Fixing A Broken Sliding Door Lock

A black handle and chrome handle on top of a table.

Does this patio door lock look familiar? This lock was used by a few different sliding door manufacturers in the Bay Area. We nicknamed this sliding door lock
"The Nail Breaker!"

This is another example of a patio door lock where the handle and lock are separate components. The handle as shown here is separate from the lock. Most patio doors that used this lock did not come with the handle. Only the sliding door lock was provided. Later the handle was made and offered as an add on after enough women complained about braking their nails while trying to open their sliding door.

No more broken fingernails! Call A1 On Track Sliding Door Repair and get a new handle installed on your sliding door.

Handle Replacement For Aluminum Sliding Doors

Pictured here is a handle and tongue style lock installed on a Fleetwood Sliding Glass Door. The handle is separate from the lock on the older Fleetwood 1000-1 series.
This combination was used by Blumberg and Western Door Co as well. The handle was offered both with and without the wood pull. The mortise- style lock was also available in stainless steel; a good choice in coastal areas.
Sliding door lock and handle replacement is just one of our specialties and we have all these locks and handles in stock. Want a key lock for your sliding door? We can do that too.

Handle Installation For Vinyl Sliding Doors

Vinyl doors are becoming more and more popular. This sliding door handle is referred to as a "C-style" handle. There are number of C-style replacement handle options and styles available.
This type of handle is made up of four components: the face plate, the pull or handle, the thumb turn or actuator, and the outside pull. In this case the handle and the lock are separate pieces. This sliding door handle uses a mortise-style lock replacement.
We have both the handle and the mortise lock in stock and can install it in just one visit.

This is a “Clamshell Handle,” another example of the many types of sliding door replacement handles available. This handle is an integration of the lock, the handle and the actuator. It's all combined into one unit.
